If you're coming to S. Korea, you'll probably find yourself at Seoul Station, and knowing that there are so many great places to eat in the area will be of great benefit to you

There are many delicious foods in Korea, but one of the favourites is Korean beef(한우, Hanwoo), so for my first blog post on Seoul restaurants, I would like to introduce you to 'Seouloin(서울로인)', a restaurant near Seoul Station where you can enjoy a Korean beef course.

As described above, Seouloin is a sirloin restaurant that combines traditional Korean style with the flavour of Korean beef 'Hanwoo(한우)'. As you'll see in the photos below, you'll be able to enjoy delicious Korean beef sirloin as a multi-course meal with a very stylish Korean table setting.
I had Dinner A (Korean beef 90g, KRW 99,000). The images are in Korean, but I'll give you an introduction to the courses below.

First-course dish - Seoul Charim(서울차림, Seoul Style)

Black Bean Porridge(검은콩깨죽) / Nori Seaweed(김부각) / Deep Fried Shrimp(새우장 튀김) / Grilled Fish(생선구이) / Bulgogi Ssam(불고기쌈) / Yukhoe(육회, Raw meat) / Citrus Slices(감귤 과편)

The first dish of the course is the Seoul Charim(서울차림, Seoul Style).
The server gives a long introduction to each dish, and I'm not sure if there's anyone here who can translate it into English, so you might want to check my description first, just in case.

There are eight delicious Korean dishes on that small dining table, which is called a "soban" in Korea.

These are all my favourite foods, and I really enjoyed them. My personal favourite is the raw meat 'Yukhoe' in the picture near the water cup!

Yukhoe - Wikipedia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Korean raw meat dish that resembles a steak tartare Yukhoe (Korean: 육회 [jukʰø]) is a raw meat dish in Korean cuisine. It is most commonly made of beef but it can come in various kinds and cuts of meat. Yukhoe lit

Second-course dish - Seosan Gamtae(감태, Ecklonia)

Next up was Seosan Gamtae. Seosan is the name of a city on the west coast of South Korea. It is located in the province of Chungcheongnam-do. Gamtae is a type of seaweed.

It looks like sushi, right? It's Yukhoe served over rice and wrapped in a Gamtae, which is full of sea flavour and Koreans love it almost as much as seasoned seaweed(김), but of course it's a bit more expensive.

I also love Gamtae, and it was fantastic with the delicious Yukhoe. I love the smell and taste of the sea. Personally, I wanted to order this dish separately, but when I looked at the price, it was 13,000 KRW per piece, which is very expensive!

Third-course dish - Scalloped Scalloped Salad

This dish is scallop tubes in a refreshing sauce. Scallop tubes are delicious on their own, but here they are tossed in a sauce with a tangerine zest. The flavours are very refreshing and good. However, I was disappointed that the amount of scallops was very small.

However, eating this dish in the middle of the course was a great way to wash down the grease from the previous Seosan Gamtae.

Fourth-course dish - Shrimp Gangjeong

Gangjeong = A light and fluffy sweet made from glutinous rice and honey

The shrimp Gangjeong is made with tiger prawns. But it's more like fried fish cakes than the traditional Korean dish, Gangjeong. Gangjeong is usually very sweet.
I guess they call it 'Gangjeong' because it's a crispy fried fish cake on the outside. It was a great appetiser before the grilled beef.

Fifth-course dish - Sirloin Korean beef

At first, when I saw the meat, I wondered if it was too little, but by the time I finished the dessert, I was full, so I think 90g was a very reasonable amount.
Oh, and of course, I'm a small eater. If you're a big guy, you might want to order 150g of meat for the A course.

This is the Pachae or Pa muchim(green onion salad) that came with it. Koreans always have vegetables on the side when they eat meat.

There were a variety of sauces to dip the meat in, including salt, Wasabi, and Ssamjang(soybean paste), but I personally recommend eating it with Pachae. It makes the meat taste even better.

My dining companion was Japanese, and he told me the difference between Japanese Wagyu and Hanwoo(Korean Beef). He described Wagyu as more oily, and Korean Beef as tender and melt-in-your-mouth, and I couldn't agree more.

Dessert: Milmyeon(밀면, Wheat noodles)

For dessert, there were miso stew and wheat noodles. I personally like wheat noodles and cold noodles, so I ordered wheat noodles in chilled broth. I wasn't expecting much, but the wheat noodles in chilled broth here were really good!
By the way, wheat noodles originated in a city called Busan in the south of South Korea.

I would say that Seouloin reproduced the taste of Busan's wheat noodles very well. It was very refreshing for my fatty meat-filled mouth.

Seouloin Overall Review

Overall, the food is very good!
However, the prices for lunch and dinner are a bit expensive!

I'll have to visit only on special occasions....

Still, I highly recommend it!
