Today, I’m excited to introduce a hidden gem near Euljiro 1(il)-ga Station in Seoul.

How to get there:
It's just a 3-minute walk from Euljiro 1(il)-ga Station (Line 2), very easy to find during your sightseeing in downtown Seoul!
🍵 A Café That Embraces Korean Tradition
The name "Jeokdang" comes from two Chinese characters:
Jeok (赤) meaning "red," symbolizing red beans (pat), and Dang (糖) meaning "sweetness."
In Korean culture, red beans represent health and good fortune.
Meeting this nostalgic flavor in a modern café made me smile warmly.
🌸 Calm Oriental Vibes in the Middle of Seoul
As soon as you step inside Jeokdang,
you’ll feel the serene, minimalist atmosphere inspired by traditional Korean tea houses.
Beautiful Korean tea sets are displayed throughout the café,
and the simple, neat furniture creates a perfect setting to relax over a drink.
It’s truly a peaceful hideaway amidst the bustling energy of Seoul!
☕️ Menu Highlights — A Sweet Journey with Red Beans
While Jeokdang also offers basic coffee options like Americano,
the true highlight here is the red bean-inspired menu:
- Red Bean Tea (Pat-cha)
- Red Bean Latte (Pat-latte)
- Various flavors of Yanggaeng (Korean-style Red Bean Jelly)
I was amazed by the variety of yanggaeng: green tea, milk, hazelnut, chocolate, apple, orange, raspberry, pistachio, and more!
This café beautifully reinterprets Korean traditional sweets with a modern twist.
🍡 What I Tasted: Red Bean Latte & Orange Yanggaeng
I ordered a warm Red Bean Latte and an Orange Yanggaeng.
The Red Bean Latte was rich, smooth, and sweet —
it honestly reminded me of Korea’s famous "Babamba" ice cream, but in a cozy, drinkable form! 😆
The Orange Yanggaeng was delightfully chewy with a bright citrus aroma.
It was so refreshing that I couldn’t stop reaching for another bite.
Also, the yanggaeng was beautifully served on a traditional Korean soban table,
making the experience even more special and heartwarming.
