Netflix has officially announced the release schedule for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things.
Stranger Things Season 5 Release Dates
The final season will be released in three parts, as announced during Netflix's global fan event Tudum 2025:
- Volume 1: November 27, 2025 – 10:00 AM
- Volume 2: December 26, 2025 – 10:00 AM
- Finale: January 1, 2026 – 10:00 AM
A teaser trailer was released at the event, teasing a thrilling and emotional finale that fans have been waiting years to see.
Stranger Things Seasons 1–4 Recap
Season 1 – The Disappearance of Will Byers
Set in 1983 Hawkins, Indiana, the series begins with young Will Byers vanishing under mysterious circumstances. His friends encounter Eleven, a girl with telekinetic powers, and uncover a secret government lab and a parallel dimension known as the Upside Down.
Season 2 – The Mind Flayer Emerges
A year later, Will suffers from lingering effects of his time in the Upside Down. A larger threat—the Mind Flayer—emerges. Meanwhile, Eleven embarks on a journey to discover her true identity and origins.
Season 3 – Starcourt Mall and Soviet Intrigue
The summer of 1985 brings the grand opening of Starcourt Mall. Beneath it, Soviet agents are secretly attempting to reopen the portal to the Upside Down. The season ends with the apparent death of Hopper and the Byers family leaving Hawkins.
Season 4 – Vecna and the Collapse of Reality
Three years later, the group is separated. In Hawkins, a new supernatural entity named Vecna begins attacking people through their trauma. Eleven, stripped of her powers, embarks on a journey to reclaim them. Hopper is revealed to be alive in a Russian prison. The boundary between reality and the Upside Down begins to collapse.
What to Expect in Season 5
Set in 1987, Season 5 will see Will Byers return as a central character. The world of the Upside Down is now fully connected to Hawkins, creating a battleground that unites all characters once more. The Duffer Brothers describe it as a combination of Season 1’s emotional core and Season 4’s massive scope.
Eleven regains her strength for the final battle, while fans can expect emotional closures for characters like Will, Eleven, Hopper, and the entire Hawkins crew. The final season will not only be about defeating Vecna, but also about growing up, saying goodbye, and healing.
